Mustangs dominate cross-town duel

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Behind the trio of Kirsten Miller, Aoi Ito, and Breanna Felderman, the Mount Mercy women's golf team finished one, two, three at the Mount Mercy / Coe Duel this past Saturday held at Hunter's Ridge Golf Course. It was an all individual meet, but if there was a team score, the Mustangs would have come out on top- for their third consecutive win.

Miller has now finished in the top five in three straight events, but this time she earned the first collegiate win of her career. She shot just two over par, 74, leading the field of 20. Miller tallied her first birdie on hole 16 and followed it up with another on hole 17 to claim the crown. Ito was right behind, finishing at three over par, 75 for second place. She totaled four birdies, two on the front nine and two on the back nine. Felderman finished at five over par, 77, for third place and the last participant to score under 80.

Alison Robu and Amelia Lueck tied for seventh (90), Dulce Gefke was 12th (94), Ellie Houston was 13th (95), Grace Haas was 15th (98), Jordyn Lang was 18th (105), and Joselyn Hildebrand was 19th (118).

Mount Mercy is back in action on Wednesday, April 19th for another one day tournament at the Storm Spring Classic, hosted by Simpson College in Indianola. Tee times begin at 10:32 am at the Indianola Country Club.
