Mustangs Win CMU Spring Invite

BOONVILLE, Mo. - The Mount Mercy women's golf team earned their first tournament win of the season, taking home the top spot at the CMU Spring Invite, hosted in Boonville.

The Mustangs beat out host Central Methodist by 32 shots, while beating fellow Heart member Missouri Valley by 36. William Woods and Waldorf would finish in fourth and fifth, respectively. All four countable Mustang scores would finish in the top 10, led by Carli Irvine in second place at 12-over. Irvine would shoot a three-over in round one, followed by a nine-over second round.

The next score was from Lauren McPhillips-Newcomb, who ended in fourth place at 22-over. McPhillips-Newcomb would card a birdie in her round, coming on the par five 14th. Kyla Johnson and Grace Haas would round out the top scoring Mustangs in eighth and ninth, respectively. Both golfers would card 19-over second rounds.

The Mustangs will next compete at the Wartburg Invite, taking place on April 5.
