Mustangs Cap Off Fall Schedule with Second Straight Tournament Win
SMITHVILLE, Mo. - The Mount Mercy women's golf team capped off the fall portion of the 25-26 schedule with a second straight tournament win, securing the Heart Conference Preview title in Smithville on Tuesday.
The Mustangs led the tournament throughout, shooting team rounds of 332-338 to win the event by 21 strokes over Baker, who would shoot rounds of 343-348 for a total of 691. Park would rise two spots on Tuesday to claim third with rounds of 362-351, while William Penn and Clarke would round out the top five.
On the individual side, Chiara Bothe rounded out her fall with back-to-back wins, claiming the individual crown by six strokes. Bothe would end her tournament at nine-over, shooting rounds of 74-79. Over 36 holes, Bothe played consistent golf, carding 21 pars and three birdies.
The second Mustang in the top five was Gracie Murray, who placed in a tie for fourth at 17-over, carding rounds of 79-82. Rounding out the top 10 was Carli Irvine, placing in a tie for ninth at 23-over. Irvine shot rounds of 86-81, rising by four spots to claim a spot inside the top 10.
The Mustangs will take the winter off and look ahead to the spring season.
