Mustangs Fall in Penultimate Road Matchup of the Season

DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Mustang women's lacrosse team fell in the penultimate road matchup of the season, falling to St. Ambrose, 15-7.

The Bees would open the scoring with just under a minute gone, and would go on to score four more as they would lead by five after the first quarter. Following another three unanswered to open the second quarter, Brooke Caffrey opened the Mustangs offense with a goal with just under four minutes to play, as the Bees held a 9-1 lead after the opening 30 minutes.

The Mustangs would respond with two more in the third, as Caffrey would net both in the third as the Mustangs would trim into the deficit. The Mustangs would then answer with three straight to start the fourth quarter thanks to goals from Caffrey, Mollie Lyon, and Claire Ellsworth. The Bees would strike for two more before Ellsworth struck again with just under two minutes to play.

Despite the loss, Scarlett Belle Martinez tallied 13 saves on 28 shots to help the Mustangs on defense. The Mustangs will close the season with a road trip to Midland, with game time set for 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9.
