Caffrey Scores Seven as Mustangs End 2025 with First Win in Program History

FREMONT, Neb. - The Mustangs closed out the season with a history making performance, earning the first win in program history in an 11-7 victory over Midland.

Midland opened the scoring as Chloe Harrison scored a pair for the Warriors within the first three minutes of the game. But Brooke Caffrey answered for the Mustangs, scoring a pair of goals herself to square the game up at two at the end of the first quarter.

The Mustangs opened the second quarter on a roll, outscoring Midland 5-1 while scoring the first four goals of the quarter. Cosette Denoyer and Mollie Lyon added a pair of goals to the scoresheet while Caffrey netted her third of the half. In the third quarter, Midland started to fight back, outscoring the Mustangs 4-1 as Madi Marusiak scored three for Midland in the third quarter alone, while Caffrey added another to her tally.

In the fourth, Caffrey continued her roll by scoring three goals in the opening seven minutes of the frame as the Mustangs wouldn't relinquish the lead, earning the program's first win. Scarlett Belle Martinez earned her first win in the crease as a Mustang keeper, carding 12 saves while only allowing seven goals.

"The girls left their hearts on the field today and it showed with earning the first win in program history," added Mustang head coach Katie Engel.

The Mustangs will end the season on a high note as they head into the offseason, looking ahead to the 2026 campaign.
