Katie Engel was named the head coach of the Mustang women's lacrosse program prior to the 2024-25 season. Engel brings with her head coaching experience at the high school level while also playing experience at the collegiate level.

Prior to coming to Mount Mercy, Engel had spent three years coaching high school lacrosse at Minooka Community High School in Illinois. There, she organized, scheduled, and managed practice sessions to help student-athletes achieve their full potential. During her last season at MCHS, Engel led the program to eight wins, including four wins in conference play.

Prior to coaching, Engel was a four-year player at North Central College for their women's lacrosse team. Engel appeared in 24 games for the Cardinals, and was a part of the team that won 30 games in two seasons, appearing in back-to-back CCIW conference tournaments.

Engel earned her bachelors degree in History from North Central in 2021 and is currently persuing her masters in Sports Leadership from North Central.
