FAYETTE, Mo. -- Eighth-ranked Central Methodist scored five first-half goals en route to a 6-0 defeat of Mount Mercy in the Mustangs' Heart of America Athletic Conference women's soccer season finale on Monday at Davis Field.
The Eagles scored in the 10th, 12th, and 24th minutes for a 3-0 lead, then hit goals twice in the 42nd minute for a 5-0 halftime lead. They tacked on another in the 55th minute for the final margin. Grace Byers, in her final game as a Mustang, recorded 10 saves.
Mount Mercy finishes the 2022 season with an overall record of 4-10-1 and a 3-9-0 mark in conference play. Central Methodist improved to 15-2-1 and 11-0-1 to earn the top seed in the Heart Women's Soccer Championship, which begins on Friday.
