Mustangs Draw with Grand View at Home

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A few unlucky bounces off of some brilliant opportunities led to the Mount Mercy women's soccer team drawing with Grand View, 1-1.

In the 15th minute, Nathalie Primbs saw an opening and fired on net, but the ball would hit off the crossbar and stay out. Just two minutes later, following a hand ball in the box, Brielle Bastian scored on the penalty kick to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead, which they would hold into the half.

In the 51st minute, Esther Attwood would also hit the crossbar as the ball would still stay out, preventing the Mustangs from going up two. In the 63rd minute, Orla Humphrey beat defenders in the box and fired on net, beating the keeper but hitting the left post as the ball would stay out of the net. With just over two minutes to play, Grand View's Ella Forsyth took the ball and dribbled past the Mustang keeper to tie the game, as the game would eventually end in a draw.

The Mustangs will return to Hadzic Field on Saturday against Benedictine, with kickoff slated for 1 p.m.
