CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Mount Mercy women's soccer team had a historic day on Thursday, as the squad secured their second Heart of America tournament appearance in program history with a draw with Culver-Stockton.
In a windy Thursday afternoon game, neither team was able to find the back of the net, as there were only ten total shots in the match, five of those on goal. Manuela Gutierrez helped the Mustangs shut out CSC with four saves in the net, while the Wildcat keeper recorded one.
"I am beyond proud of these girls!" added Mustang first year head coach Hannah Clark. "Our chemistry has been building all season, and there is so much untapped potential within this group. I'm especially thrilled for our seniors, who are making school history and still have more to accomplish. We are ready to give it our all in the conference tournament and continue this journey together!"
The Mustangs will learn of their seed in the tournament once regular season play ends this Saturday, with the conference tournament kicking off next week.
