Mustangs Shine on Day One of Heart Outdoor Championships

FAYETTE, Mo. - Mount Mercy's women's track and field team turned in a strong showing on day one of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships.

In the field events, Carla Santos placed fourth in the pole vault with a clearance of 2.90 meters. Brooklyn Johnson finished 10th in the long jump with a mark of 5.17 meters, while Ava Conrad took seventh in the hammer throw with a toss of 46.05 meters.

On the track, the Mustangs' 4x800-meter relay team earned a second-place finish with a time of 9:30.93, securing a spot in the finals. Johnson also competed in the 100-meter dash preliminaries, placing 10th with a time of 12.58 seconds.

In the 10,000-meter run, Kayla Overton finished seventh overall in 41:43.58.

Mount Mercy looks to carry its momentum into day two of the Heart Championships.
