Mustangs split four matches at crossover tournament
CHICAGO -- Mount Mercy went 2-2 over the weekend at the SXU-TCC Crossover Tournament hosted by St. Xavier (Ill.) and Trinity Christian (Ill.). The Mustangs opened the tournament on Friday with a 3-2 loss to St. Francis (Ill.) before a three-game sweep of Trinity Christian. Mount Mercy extended its winning streak to six sets with another sweep of Roosevelt (Ill.) on Saturday, then dropped a three-set match to St. Xavier.
Becca Thomsen was Mount Mercy's leading attacker, totaling 37 kills and five service aces in four matches. Cori Peterzalek added 31 kills and 44 assists. Abbie Perez finished with 71 assists and six aces. Lauren Stopko and Allie McQuiston led the defensive effort with 47 and 44 digs, respectively. Emma Pisark talled 12 blocks.
