Mustangs get back on track

OSKALOOSA, Iowa — The Mount Mercy women's volleyball team rebounded from a home loss to Clarke on Tuesday with road victories over the Pride and William Penn this weekend in Heart of America Athletic Conference action.

The Mustangs redeemed themselves in Dubuque on Friday, beating Clarke (10-8, 6-4 Heart), 3-2 (25-21, 23-25, 13-25, 25-14, 15-13). They moved on to William Penn on Saturday night and earned a four-set win over the Statesmen (25-22, 25-12, 17-25, 25-21) to move into a tie for second place in the Heart of America North Division at 6-2 overall and 6-2 in conference play.

Cassidy Boche (FR/Cedar Rapids, Iowa), Maddie Bell (SR/Ely, Iowa), and Abbi Tunis (SR/Davenport, Iowa) recorded double-digit kills in Saturday's win at William Penn (11-4, 6-2 Heart). Boche had a team-high 15 kills to go along with 17 digs. Bell added 13 kills and a pair of blocks, while Tunis finished with 11 kills and four blocks. Kayla Daggett (SR/Madison, Wis.) tallied 46 assists, Gabe Delsing 27 digs.

Mount Mercy is home for three of their final four regular season matches. The Mustangs host Culver-Stockton (2-8, 2-5 Heart) on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., then welcome William Penn to Hennessey Recreation Center for Senior Day on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 1:00 p.m. After going to Culver-Stockton on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 7:00 p.m., Mount Mercy takes on North Division leading Grand View (8-0, 6-0 Heart) on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 7:00 p.m.
