Mustangs sweep Wildcats for 5-0 home record
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Mount Mercy women's volleyball team continued to feast on home cooking Saturday, winning a three-set match over Culver-Stockton at Hennessey Recreation Center. The Mustangs snapped a four-match losing streak to remain unbeaten at home.
Mount Mercy swept the Wildcats 25-16, 25-20, 25-22. Maggie Peters and Mackenzie Murphy led the Mustangs with 12 and 10 kills respectively. Peters posted a .400 hitting percentage Saturday. Cassidy Boche added six kills and Kendall McNaull had five kills. Hailey Hested tallied 32 assists. Rylie Mussman had a team-best 28 digs. Abby Redmond and Murphy led Mount Mercy with four and three service aces .
The Mustangs improved to 8-9 overall and 4-4 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Culver-Stockton fell to 6-12 overall and 2-5 in the Heart. Mount Mercy returns to the road Tuesday with a 7:00 pm match at William Penn (10-7, 3-5 Heart) before returning home for three straight matches. The Mustangs host Benedictine (9-8, 4-3 Heart) at 7:00 pm Friday, Baker (6-11, 4-2 Heart) at noon Saturday, and Clarke (9-10, 6-2 Heart) at 7:00 pm Tuesday, Oct. 12.
