BALDWIN CITY, Kan. | The Mustangs defeat the Baker Wildcats 3-1 in a conference matchup.
The Mustangs started the match strong after taking set one 25-16 after recording 13 kills as a team. The Wildcats responded to the early Mustang lead and took set two 25-14 by holding the Mustangs to only seven kills and a -.108 hitting percentage. The rest of the match was in favor of the Mustangs as they would take set three 25-22 and set four 25-23 to win the match 3-1.
Mary Kate Bendlage was the leading attacker for the Mustangs after recording 14 kills with a .038 hitting percentage in the match. Teammate Jenna Brown was right behind her with 12 kills and a .281 hitting percentage. Hailey Hested collected 42 assists and 11 digs, with Rylie Mussman adding 22 digs as well.
The Wildcats were led by Aby Widhalm with 13 kills and a .323 hitting percentage, followed by teammates Kierra Hipple and Kaitlyn Stout with 11 kills each.
The Mustangs will be back on the court Friday, September 27th, as they travel to face the Peru State Bobcats in a conference matchup, with first serve at 6:00 PM CDT.
