Mustangs Defeat the Yellowjackets in a Four Set Battle
LAMONI, Iowa | The Mustangs defeat the Graceland Yellowjackets in a conference matchup 3-1, with set scores of 25-23, 23-25, 25-19, and 25-21.
The Mustangs started the match on top after taking set one after recording 12 kills and had a .024 hitting percentage. In set two, the Yellowjackets rallied back after having 16 kills with a .244 hitting percentage to tie the match 1-1. Despite losing set two, the Mustangs dominated the next two sets after hitting .321 in the third set and .154 in the fourth set to win the match 3-1.
Jenna Brown was the leading hitter for the Mustangs after recording 14 kills with a .464 hitting percentage. Teammate Ellie Gerdes was behind Brown after collecting 12 kills and a .333 hitting percentage, along with Mary Kate Bendlage with 11 kills and a .083 hitting percentage. Hailey Hested had a phenomenal match after recording 46 assists, placing her within the top 13 all-time assists leaders in a four-set match. Rylie Mussman ended the match with 23 digs.
Brenna Crabtree was the Yellowjacket's top hitter after recording 24 kills with a .326 hitting percentage. Grace Jenson was the next leading hitter for the Yellowjackets after recording nine kills and a .125 hitting percentage.
The Mustangs will be back on the court Tuesday, October 1st, as they travel to Dubuque, Iowa, to face off with the Clarke Pride in a conference matchup. The first serve is planned for 7:00 PM CDT.
