Hested Breaks School Record For Career Assists In Sweep Over The Wildcats
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa | In a record-breaking performance by senior setter Hailey Hested, the Mustangs swept Culver-Stockton 3-0 in a conference matchup.
The Mustangs dominated the opening set after recording 21 kills paired with a .341 hitting percentage, taking set one 25-13. Set two went to the Mustangs 25-17 as Mary Kate Bendlage led the teams with 13 kills and a .267 hitting percentage. The Mustangs took set three 25-22 with 11 kills to win the match 3-0.
Mary Kate Bendlage was the leading attacker for the Mustangs after recording 17 kills and a .200 hitting percentage, with Jenna Brown following her with nine kills and a .348 hitting percentage.
Hailey Hested had a record-breaking performance in the match. After recording her 36th assist in set three and assist number 3,582 of her career, she broke the school's all-time career assist record of 3,581, which was set back in 2020. Hested would end the match with 42 assists.
Abby Godwin offensively led the Wildcats with eight kills and a .226 hitting percentage, followed by Zoe Irvin with seven kills and a .125 hitting percentage.
The Mustangs will be back on the court Friday, October 11th, to face off against Missouri Valley starting at 7:00 PM.
