Mustangs Fall in Heart Title Game; Await NAIA Postseason

OZARK, Mo. - The Mustang baseball team fell in the Heart of America title game to Central Methodist, falling 11-3 on Monday afternoon.

The Mustangs were paced on offense by Jeremy Figueroa and Josh Notriano, combining for four of the Mustangs seven hits in the game. Notriano would lead the way on the squad with two RBIs.

The Eagles would plate the first run of the game in the top of the first inning on a groundout to short, but Bryce Brown would drive one home on a double play. The Eagles would then explode for five runs in the third thanks to a solo homer and a three-run homer, taking a five run lead.

Notriano would drive in his two RBIs on the day on a double to right field, scoring Cedric Dunnwald and Figueroa. But the Eagles would respond with force, scoring five more over the final three innings, capped off by their second three-run homer of the day, ending with an 11-3 win.

Foster Seitz earned the win, improving his record to 11-3, throwing five innings while allowing six hits and one earned run, striking out three. Jake Weissenberger was tabbed with the loss, throwing 2.2 innings and allowing four runs.

The Mustangs will learn of their postseason opponent and location on Wednesday, with the selection show scheduled for 4 p.m. CT.
