Hot shooting Mustangs wreck Pirates

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- It all came together offensively for Mount Mercy on Saturday as the Mustangs had their best shooting performance of the season in a 90-76 defeat of Park in Heart of America Athletic Conference men's basketball action at Hennessey Recreation Center.

Mount Mercy's 58 percent shooting overall included an 11-of-21 performance (52.4%) from 3-point range. The Mustangs (2-6, 2-3 Heart) also outscored the Pirates (4-5, 2-3 Heart), 21-9, at the free throw line.

Ryan Bartley tied his career high with 32 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field and a 13-of-15 showing at the foul line. It was the second 30-point performance in the past three games for the reigning Heart of America Player of the Week.

Starters Anthony Horton, Jr. and Aidan Yamilkoski added 13 and 12 points, respectively, while Riley Pankey scored 14 off the bench. Rusmir Hamzic tallied nine points and a team-high eight rebounds. Horton, Jr. also finished with six boards and a game-high six assists.

Jaden Robinson had 15 points to lead the way for Park. Augusto Hausmann totaled 14 points and 10 rebounds, DeMarcus Hudson 12 points and three assists.

Mount Mercy hosts a non-conference matchup with Columbia on Tuesday at 6:00 pm at Hennessey Rec Center, then goes to Olathe, Kan., for a Heart of America contest against MidAmerica Nazarene at 2:00 pm at the Cook Center.
