CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Ryan Bartley's put-back at the buzzer in overtime gave the Mount Mercy men's basketball team a 100-98 victory over Central Methodist in Saturday's season finale on Senior Day at Hennessey Recreation Center.
Bartley's heroics came after a game-tying reverse layup by the Eagles' Everett Stubblefield with six seconds left. After a timeout, Anthony Horton, Jr. drove the length of the floor and took an off-balance shot that missed, but Bartley was there for the follow just before the horn sounded, giving the Mustangs the win.
Horton, Jr. was terrific in his final game in a Mustang uniform, going for a career-high 30 points and finishing one rebound and two assists shy of a triple-double. Bartley put up 26 points and five boards. Riley Pankey had 16 points and six rebounds, Aidan Yamilkoski 14 points and eight boards.
Stubblefield ended up with 25 points and five assists. TreVon Smith had 23 points and 11 rebounds, Peter Turay 19 points and eight boards, and Trey Sinegal and Isaiah May 12 points apiece.
Mount Mercy wrapped the season at 9-19 overall and 8-16 in the Heart, while Central Methodist takes an overall mark of 19-9 and 15-9 in the league into the Heart of America Men's Basketball Championship presented by WinWon. The fourth-seeded Eagles host fifth-seeded Peru State in a Tuesday quarterfinal in Fayette, Mo.
