Mustangs Fall to MidAmerica Nazarene on the Road

OLATHE, Kan. - The Mustang men's soccer team fell on the road to the defending national champions, falling to MidAmerica Nazarene, 2-1.

The Pioneers got the scoring started early as Paul Heel took a pass from Rick Hovinga to make it 1-0 MNU after the first 13 minutes. Jaxon Slaven put the ball past the keeper 23 minutes later following up on a rebounded shot to make it 2-0 Pioneers, which would hold to be the halftime score.

In the second half, Antonio Cuellar got the pass from Chafik Elidrissi to trim the lead in half, but the Mustangs would be unable to capitalize on any more chances as the match would end 2-1. The Mustangs ended the match with the advantage in shots at 18-12, while the Pioneers would hold the advantage in saves at 9-5.

The Mustangs will return to the pitch in Dubuque next week, facing off against Clarke in the final home stretch of the season.
