Mia leads the way as Mustangs win third straight

PARKVILLE, Mo. -- Sammy Mia knocked down four 3-pointers and poured in a game-high 22 points to lead the Mount Mercy women's basketball team to its third-straight win, 68-60, over Park in Saturday's Heart of America Athletic Conference matchup.

The Mustangs (7-11, 4-3 Heart) led by four at the end of the first quarter and were able to take a three point lead into halftime thanks to Mia, who scored 12 of Mount Mercy's 14 second-quarter points. They pushed that lead to six after three periods and held off the Pirates (7-5, 1-5 Heart).

Kyla Richardson added 12 points for the Mustangs. Sassy Coleman scored eight points and grabbed 11 boards. Kennedi Fulwylie chipped in seven points, Annika Headington, Deja Antoine, and Marissa Brantley five apiece. Heading also had seven assistss.

Aleigha Jackson led Park with 15 points and six rebounds off the bench. Taylor Shelby finished with 12 points, five boards, and four assists. Makayla Artis put up 10 points and six rebounds, Cautia Wadood had 10 points.

Mount Mercy is home for a pair of Heart contests this week, hosting Graceland (4-12, 1-6 Heart) on Wednesday at 5:30 pm and 14th-ranked Central Methodist (14-3, 4-3 Heart) on Saturday at noon at Hennessey Recreation Center.
