CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Mount Mercy women's basketball team dominated every facet of the game in an 84-47 rout of Park in Saturday's Heart of America Athletic Conference matchup at Hennessey Recreation Center.
The Mustang defense locked up the Pirate offense, limiting Park to 28.6 percent shooting (16-of-56) while forcing 17 turnovers. Mount Mercy (5-3, 3-2 Heart) also owned the glass by a 3-to-1 margin, out-rebounding Park, 53-21. They shot 50 percent from the floor and were 20-of-26 at the free throw line in the win.
Madison Dreckman led three Mustangs in double figures with 15 points. Sadie Struchen added 12 and Fumnanya Ijeh 11 points off the bench. Annika Headington finished two points and one assist shy of a triple-double, totaling eight points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists. Karlie Krogman grabbed seven boards, Dreckman and Anais Bonnemaison six each.
Angel Wiggins had 14 points and three rebounds for Park (5-4, 3-3 Heart). Iva Drobnjak and Sheridan Curley chipped in seven points apiece, Taylor Shelby six.
The Mustangs will be back in action on Dec. 9 against MidAmerica Nazarene (2-3, 1-3 Heart) at noon at Cook Center in Olathe, Kan.
