Mustangs get fourth straight win

MARSHALL, Mo. -- The Mount Mercy women's basketball team owns a four-game winning streak thanks to a 77-74 victory over Missouri Valley at Burns Athletic Center on the second night of back-to-back Heart of America Athletic Conference road matchups.

The Mustangs (12-7, 10-6 Heart) defeated Central Methodist on Tuesday and responded by handing the Vikings (9-11, 7-9 Heart) their seventh consecutive loss. It also evened the season series with Missouri Valley, who beat Mount Mercy, 79-70, on Nov. 29 at Hennessey Recreation Center.

Madison Dreckman was the catalyst again for the Mustangs, pouring in 24 points with nine rebounds and a pair of blocks. Annika Headington scored 16 points, Malie Marfil collected 11 points and six boards, and Madison Skelton tallied 10 points and five assists. Sadie Struchen had eight points off the bench.

Giavanna Moore led all scorers with 31 points for the Vikings. She also grabbed six rebounds and blocked two shots. Sophie Sullivan totaled 11 points, seven boards, and seven assists. Rajone Callahan chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds.

Mount Mercy is back at home this weekend, hosting Baker (3-17, 3-13 Heart) on Saturday at noon at Hennessey Rec Center.
