Byers earns shutout as Mustangs tie Pioneers

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Mount Mercy battled MidAmerica Nazarene to a scoreless draw on Saturday in a Heart of America Athletic Conference women's soccer match at Hadzic Field.

The Pioneers outshot the Mustangs, 26-11, but Mount Mercy goalie Grace Byers recorded 14 saves while working all 110 minutes in goal. Miran Sakai led the Mustangs with four shots, including Mount Mercy's lone shot on goal.

The tie leaves Mount Mercy at 2-4-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the Heart. The Mustangs host Clarke at 5:00 pm Tuesday before traveling to Parkville, Mo., for a match with Park next Saturday.
