OSKALOOSA, Iowa -- The Mount Mercy women's soccer team dropped a Heart of America Athletic Conference road match on Tuesday, falling to William Penn, 3-0, at Drost Field.
The Statesmen (5-9-0, 3-6-0 Heart) scored just before halftime to go up 1-0 on Iris Navarro's goal in the 44th minute. An own goal by the Mustangs (2-9-1, 0-8-1 Heart) made it 2-0 in the 57th minute before Piper-Rae Davis finished off the scoring in the 82nd minute.
William Penn totaled 24 shots with 12 on goal while Mount Mercy tallied nine shots, four of which were on frame. Mustang goalkeeper Grace Byers made nine saves, Katja Bierman of the Statesmen stopped all four shots on goal by the Mustangs.
Mount Mercy is at Evangel for a Heart of America match on Saturday at noon in Springfield, Mo. The Mustangs host Graceland in their home finale on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at 5:00 pm at Hadzic Field in Cedar Rapids.
