Hested Sets New School Record in a 3-0 Sweep Over The Pride

DUBUQUE, Iowa | The Mustangs dominated the court in a 3-0 sweep in the conference matchup against the Clarke Pride. 

Set one went to the Mustangs 26-24 in a point-for-point battle to open the match. The momentum switched to the Pride as they would take a 12-3 lead to start the second set, but the Mustangs would not go down without a fight. After being down nine points in the second set, the Mustangs battled back to regain momentum in a come-from-behind win to take set two 25-23. Set three was in favor of the Mustangs as they had a .279 hitting percentage to lead them to a 25-20 set victory and a 3-0 match sweep over the Pride.

Mary Kate Bendlage had an outstanding night as she recorded a .370 hitting percentage with 22 kills, which places her fourth in the school's all-time record for kills in a three-set match. Following Bendlage were Sam Schrage and Jenna Brown, who each recorded a .316 hitting percentage to pair with nine kills. 

Hailey Hested had a remarkable match as she broke the school's all-time record for assists in a three-set match after collecting 46 assists, which was set back in 2013. 

For the Pride, Maya Watters was their leading attacker with a .211 hitting percentage and 15 kills, followed by Rachel Haubert with six kills and a .138 hitting percentage. 

The Mustangs will be back on the court Friday, October 4th, as they travel to face off with the Statesmen of William Penn in another conference matchup. The first serve is set for 7:00 PM CDT.
