CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Ryan Bartley scored the go-ahead bucket with 31 seconds left and Jakari Bradley converted three free throws over the final 17 seconds as Mount Mercy defeated Benedictine, 79-75, in Saturday's Heart of America Athletic Conference men's basketball game at Hennessey Recreation Center.
Just three days after going scoreless over the final five minutes in a loss to Culver-Stockton, the Mustangs (4-10, 3-7 Heart) showed their resilience against the Ravens (4-10, 3-8 Heart). Mount Mercy can put together back-to-back wins when they take on Clarke on Wednesday at 7:30 pm at the Kehl Center in Dubuque.
Bartley ended up with a game-high 23 points and snared six rebounds. Rusmir Hamzic, who missed Wednesday's game against Culver-Stockton, returned to the lineup on Saturday with a double-double that included 18 points and 13 boards. Anthony Horton, Jr. tallied 11 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Riley Pankey scored nine points off the bench while Bradely finished with eight points and five boards.
Brycen LaRue led the Ravens with 16 points. Gino Corridori and Larry Walker III chipped in 14 points apiece and Braden Belt scored 12 points.
